Large Animal Services
Routine health examinations and certifications for Livestock
We perform blood draws and examinations for participation in the USDA Certified-Free Herds program for Brucellosis and Tuberculosis in cattle and Pseudorabies, PRRS, and Brucellosis in swine. We can now perform Pork Quality Assurance (PQA) certification for farm staff and do PQA Plus on-site assessments of your farm.
Wellness examinations
We will examine your animal(s) to see if they are injured or sick and require treatment. Essential physical examinations include evaluation of the heart and lungs, temperature as needed, evaluation of the rumen/abdomen, and additional procedures as requested or necessary.
Reproductive Services
Pre-Breeding Evaluation: We perform Breeding Soundness Exams (BSE) in bulls as well as pelvic measurements, body condition scores, and reproductive tract scores in heifers to aid in your decision-making before breeding season.
Pregnancy Evaluation: We provide routine evaluations of all livestock species by rectal palpation or ultrasound imaging.
Artificial Insemination: We can perform timed AI services for your herd, whether heifers or mature cows. Sufficient notice is needed for proper planning before the breeding season begins.
Calving/lambing/kidding: We offer help with difficult births in large animal species and can perform C-sections as needed. Please contact us for more information at 573-581-4679.
Forage Analysis
We recommend obtaining samples of your winter feed and forages to test for nutritional balance and to help make decisions about mineral and feed supplements for your herd.
